Job Description/Requirements


•    Providing quality education in accordance with the set government curriculum.
•    Participate fully in the planning and organizing of co-curricular activities.
•    Actively participating as a team member of the teaching staff to ensure the smooth running of the school.
•    Pastoral care of students.
•    Maintain good classroom management.
•    Keeping of records report, academic performance and pastoral notes.

a)    Receive lesson plans, lesson notes, timetables, schemes of work weekly from teachers for onward transmission to the deputy and maintain academic standards in the school to ensure that the syllabus is covered in time for evaluation;
b)    Teach subjects of specialization to impart knowledge, skills and attitudes to learners;
c)    Evaluate learners in subjects of specialization and prepare them for national and other examinations;
d)    Collect and maintain all school records such as enrolment, teaching and learning resources, evaluation records and attendance registers;
e)    Organize and coordinate school based in-service programs to upgrade teacher’s knowledge and skills for improved teaching and learning;
f)     Organize school based subject panels to facilitate sharing of knowledge, innovations and new trends;
g)    Coordinate gender mainstreaming issues for teachers and learners in curricular and co-curricular activities such as sports to ensure gender equity, equitable participation and maximization of potential of teachers and learners
h)    Ensure discipline in school is maintained and arbitrate any disputes
i)     Supervise cleanliness of the school compound and ensure the learners are tidy;
j)     Serve as secretary to the school disciplinary committee.
k)    Embrace teamwork through collaborative planning and teaching to ensure consistency and improvement in curriculum delivery;
l)     Serve as a role model and maintain learner discipline to create conducive environment for learning;
m)   Provide guidance and counselling services to the learners and instil norms and values for harmonious co-existence;
n)    Initiate curriculum development process, its implementation and evaluation to ensure it is relevant and achievable in schools;
o)    Organize remedial actions to support learners with performance gaps;
p)    Provide positive comments in students’ reports.
q)    Provide notes to the donor relations officer on students who are sponsored.
r)    Give standard continuous assessment tests preferably on a weekly basis as a way of assessing the learners’ progress.
s)    Preparation of end of quality term examinations.
t)    Guide and direct volunteer/assistant teachers.
u)   Take responsibility for one club at school.
v)    Ensure that all students perform their daily duties appropriately and in time.
w)   Adhere to the established chain of command to address work-related issues.
x)    The employee will refrain from any activities outside the project that would present a conflict of interest with his/her employment at Mukuru Promotion Centre.  
y)    Provide provision for students who miss tests through illness.
z)    Be responsible for all resources assigned to your subject area/curriculum.
aa)  Safeguard all materials that are the property of MPC.
bb)  Any other duties assigned by the Principal.
