Job Description/Requirements

Position:        Self-Help Group Approach Assistant National Coordinator for Kenya (SHGA ANC)

Deadline:        10th February 2025

Location:       Nairobi with frequent upcountry travels

Contract:       One year renewable.

 

Overall responsibility

The overall responsibility of the SHGA ANC is toassist inprovision of oversight and coordination of SHGA activities, quality control as well as SHGA contextualization in the country in collaboration with the SHGA National Coordinator.

 

The ANC has specific responsibilities that include:

Planning and Coordination: Involves assisting the National Coordinator in periodic planning and budgeting, and expansion of the SHGA in Kenya.

Capacity development: Participates in organising workshops, meetings, learning platforms and at times facilitate during the training sessions for the SHGA promoters.

Monitoring and Reporting: Part of the team that provides oversight functions through monitoring visits, tracking progress and outcomes, providing feedback to the Promoting Organizations and the SHGA structures. Very often the ANC produces reports in consultation with the National Coordinator.

Networking and Advocacy: Foster relationships and maintains communication with the Promoting Organizations, SHGA structures, and relevant stakeholders. He or she raises awareness, share information and advocate for SHGA, including lobbying government and non-state actors.

Administrative Support and Compliance: Handling administrative tasks related to logistics necessary for office, travels, the management of assets and petty cash. The job holder ensures compliance and safeguarding the Children’s rights through adherence to KNH and Organisation’s Child Protect Policies.

 

Qualifications, experiences and skills

The minimum required academic and professional skills for the job holder include the following:

·       A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Community Development or another related Social Sciences discipline

·       At least 5 years professional experience in managing community development programs with state or non -state organizations.

·       Proven experience and knowledge in

o   working with rights-based approaches;

o   working with children and strong commitment to children’s rights;

o   facilitating participatory processes, such as PRA, in communities;

·       Advocate for gender inclusivity and women empowerment.

·       Possesses and exhibits a variety of essential soft skills relevant to community development

·       Familiarity with government policies, and programs related to poverty alleviation

·       Highly proficient in relevant Computer packages and technologies

·       Fluent in English and Kiswahili.

·       A valid Driver’s License with at least 3 years’ experience.

·       Knowledge of Self-Help Group approaches or similar grassroots initiatives will be an added advantage

 

Requirements:

The position requires regular travel extensively to upcountry sites in the different counties as well as occasionally to outside the Country. The field visits will require the willingness to work at times beyond the usual working hours.
