8. Senior Fire Officer, JOB GROUP ‘G’ (CPSB 12) - ONE (1) POST ADVERT NO. 135/2020
Terms of Service : 3 years Contract
Basic Salary : Kshs. 22, 270 p.m. - Kshs. 30,020 p.m.
House Allowance : Kshs. 3,200 p.m.
Commuter Allowance : Kshs. 4,000 p.m.
Medical Benefits : Comprehensive Medical Cover
a) Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
i. Be in possession of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education minimum grade D Plain or equivalent qualification;
ii. Have Fireman II Certificate from a recognized fire services training school / institution;
iii. Certificate in First Aid lasting not less than one week from St. Johns Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;
iv. Have minimum three (3) years proven experience in in fire-fighting and operation of fire-fighting equipment;
v. Proven experience in managing disasters;
vi. Be physically and medically fit as certified by a Public Medical Officer;
Former members of the disciplined forces and the NYS who have undergone firefighting training or ex-fire fighters will have an added advantage.
b) Duties and Responsibilities
i. Operating firefighting appliances and communication equipment.
ii. Performing specialized functions in preparing and responding to fire and emergency calls in order to prevent and/or minimize loss of life, property or injury as a result of fire.
iii. Responding to emergency calls with utmost speed and efficiency;
iv. Safeguarding personal other persons’ safety at all times;
v. Participating in rescue operations; and
vi. Inspection and maintenance of appliances and equipment
