Overview
Our team is growing! Excellent opportunity for an Energy Spot Trader to join our Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) ANZ business to effectively implement short term/spot market trading and commercial strategies and manage commodity market risk exposures within relevant limits.
You will show this accomplishment through the management and optimisation of the real time and day ahead power and gas positions for the generation and retail asset portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Optimising and securing the gross margin for the generation, gas and retail asset portfolio in operational timeframes through participation in physical and financial commodity markets. Managing real time and close to real time trading operations for power and gas and participation in the National Electricity and regional gas markets. Contribute to the development and implementation of trading strategies, particularly with respect to participation in real time and short-term power and gas markets including the NEM, DWGM and STTM Undertake trading activities ethically in accordance with relevant legislation, codes and regulations, market rules Coordinate effectively with power station operators to maximise electricity revenue. Required to undertake to undertake shift work and participate in âon callâ arrangements outside of core business hours. This will include weekends and overnight âon callâ, as part of the shared rosterAbout You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring forward your understanding of power and gas system operations. You will also have:
Experience in power station, gas market and retail business commercial operations in real time/close to real time, including optimising power and gas positions as well as asset operations Experience in work involving exposure to power and gas spot market arrangements, preferably in Australia Ability to effectively prioritise challenges and tasks within spot market operational timetables Strong analytical and problem solving skills Relevant tertiary degree e.g., Mathematics, Economics or EngineeringBased in Melbourne, ENGIE provides an excellent long-term career opportunity and a chance to grow and develop!

The Global Energy Management & Sales (GEMS) business unit is the fully integrated trading arm of the ENGIE Group.
