The Need
For 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence by 2030, we are seeking a Sr. Lead, Global Aftercare to serve within the Global Programs Center for Excellence, collaborating with Regional and Global Functions teams across the world to lead, advise, and support implementation of IJMâs Aftercare vision and strategy to strengthen public justice systems and networks of care to protect people.
The Sr. Specialist will (1) lead the development of global Aftercare strategy as it aligns with IJMâs Protection Model, (2) ensure that teams are aligned and empowered with the tools, guidance, and frameworks necessary to achieve accompaniment and activation goals that ensure that trauma-informed justice systems and social services empower survivors toward restoration; (3) lead the development and dissemination of global aftercare products, resources, and trainings that equip staff and partners to protect and empower survivors to restoration, and (4) contribute to Global Programsâ work to identify and build evidence for replicable interventions.
This is position is based in any country where IJM has an office, and reports to the Global Vice President, Program Excellence.
Responsibilities:
Strategy, Knowledge Development, & Implementation
Design, develop, and train teams on the resources to implement the Global Aftercare strategy;
Develop tools, guidance, and resources for regional teams to implement Aftercare casework and justice system transformation activities;
Lead the development of tools, models of care, products, and resources for best practices that will result in more effective and sustainable interventions for survivor care;
Lead the development of resources and guidance for teams to implement the aftercare components of JDS;
Equip Regional Aftercare Specialists to execute global aftercare strategy at regional and field levels;
Contribute to the Global Implementing Partners guidance, strategy, and tool development, including resource development for aftercare IPs;
Contribute to grant and proposal development, donor engagement, and consultation for global (including North America), regional, and field teams; and
Remain up-to-date on innovative trends and developments in survivor protection and care approaches globally and regionally through research, shared learning across global teams, and networking; propose enhancements or integration of best practices into existing IJM programs, including survivor voice and empowerment initiative.
Networking & Partnership
Develop relationships with survivor protection and care communities that add value to IJMâs mission;
Engage in relevant survivor protection and care networks in liaison with organization priorities; and
Participate in global and regional panels, conferences, and working groups as key representative of IJM Aftercare.
Policies & Procedures
Design, develop, and train teams on the best practices and processes as related to the Global Aftercare strategy. Collaborate with regional aftercare experts to disseminate global standards for hubs, national offices, field offices, and partners;
Develop replicable guidelines and processes to ensure global implementation of the aftercare components of JDS; and
Lead the update of new Global Aftercare policies, procedures, and competencies as required. Annually review global aftercare standards and revise, as necessary.
Communication
Act as a liaison between Global Programsâ Justice Solutions team and regional Aftercare Specialists and teams on global Aftercare projects, strategy, and resource development;
Development of briefs, papers, fact sheets, and other communication resources as necessary that articulates IJMâs approach and strategy for Aftercare;
Ensure knowledge sharing and lessons learned across IJM regional Aftercare teams, promoting avenues for shared learnings, collaboration, and product development; and
Responsible for all administrative Global Aftercare tasks including responding to email inquiries, managing donor and partner requests globally, supporting other Global and North America projects, and representing IJM Aftercare as needed in key stakeholder and donor meetings.
Training & Development
Lead a Community of Practice to share learning across global teams to identify, package, and replicate best practices for survivor care;
Develop and distribute resources and products to equip teams to implement the Global Aftercare strategy;
Develop or adapt external capacity building training resources and curricula for implementing partners and service providers. Lead and supervise curriculum consultants;
Lead pilot trainings and internal capacity building trainings for IJM aftercare staff and partners to build capacity for regional and field teams to execute Global Aftercare strategy, including trainings on trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and case management provision;
Contribute to Global Programs curriculum, training, and product development; and
Onboard new field and regional aftercare leaders, as needed. Mentor and build capacity of regional aftercare specialists in leadership roles.
Research, Program Management and M&E
Lead the implementation and ongoing development of Global Aftercare Standardized Indicators, including tool and training development globally;
In collaboration with the MERL team, support the data collection and analysis of Aftercare standardized indicators for programs to develop models of care; and
Provide consultation and technical expertise into regional and field level aftercare research projects, as needed.
Requirements:
Education & Experience
Advanced degree in social work or psychology;
Minimum of 15+ years of relevant work experience. Engagement with IJM Aftercare programming strongly preferred;
Minimum of 10+ years of experience leading the development and implementation of successful social service programs and capacity building projects with excellent outcomes;
Preferred experience working in the global south;
Minimum of 5+ years of experience developing resources and curriculum in cross-cultural settings; and
Subject matter expertise in social work, trauma-informed care, case management, and training and development.
Technical Competencies
Demonstrated ability to design and support implementation of aftercare program development and capacity building;
Expertise and direct experience in leading and implementing programs and trauma-informed services for survivors of violence;
Expertise and proven success with training, resource, and curriculum development and implementation;
Proven success with product development to address needs and gaps;
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; and
Demonstrated ability to provide remote support to global teams in multiple country contexts.
