We are looking for a hard-working Steward to be responsible to ensure all sanitation standards are met.

Job Description

  • The Steward will assist wait staff, ensure all stations are well stocked and assist in keeping all areas clean and sanitary. 
  • You will clean and put away dishes, clean floors and food preparation areas, refill supplies, wipe tables, and take out the trash.
  • You should be committed to working hard, and have the physical stamina to be on your feet and moving for the duration of your shifts. 
  • You should be friendly and helpful to customers and have strong team working skills.
  • You will be responsible for a number of tasks as detailed below.

The starting salary is Ksh. 12,000 plus tips and bonuses.

Steward Responsibilities:

  1. Cleaning and setting tables and placing seasonal decorations, candles, and table cloths.
  2. Keeping menus clean.
  3. Stocking wait staff serving stations with napkins, utensils, trays, and condiments, and assisting the wait staff with all aspects of service.
  4. Clearing tables and preparing them for the next customers.
  5. Assisting in cleaning and opening or closing tasks.
  6. Scraping food from dirty dishes, pots, pans, plates, flatware, and glasses, cleaning and putting them away.
  7. Assisting with sweeping, mopping, and polishing the restaurant, bar, kitchen, and equipment.
  8. Transporting used linen to or from the laundry or housekeeping section.
  9. Assisting with unloading and storing stock.
  10. Ensure the kitchen is clean, well maintained and organised at all times.
  11. Operate pot-washing machinery and maintain a hygienic working environment in accordance with hygiene regulations and company standards.
  12. Collects and removes trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures.
  13. Ensure waste bin area is kept clean and tidy
  14. Check all chemical levels and inventory.
  15. If any breakages or chipped items found then remove them from circulation and update the breakage and inventory register.
  16. Report any maintenance or hazard issues to the chief steward / stewarding manager.
  17. Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  18. Assist Food & Beverage Servers in all aspects of the dining experience
  19. Ensure the proper set up of all side stations in the outlet
  20. Have knowledge of beverage lists and promotions
  21. Ensure cleaning schedule is adhered to and to the required standard
  22. Clean and mop lounge bar and equipment
  23. Stock and tidy up Store Room
  24. Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Steward Requirements:

  1. A high school certificate or equivalent.
  2. 2 years of working experience in this industry.
  3. A friendly, polite and courteous nature.
  4. Strong customer service and team working skills.
  5. Physical stamina to work long hours on your feet.
  6. The flexibility to work shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  7. Strong communication and organizational skills.
  8. Previous service experience is an added advantage
  9. Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
