Job Summary

The steward will be responsible for washing dishes, mopping the floor, assisting the cooks in food preparation, and ensuring the back area is in an inspection-ready condition in accordance with the County Government guidelines. They will be responsible for serving customers with food and beverages.

Job Description/Requirements

Mapples Restaurant based in Nakuru CBD seeks to recruit dedicated, experienced, and highly talented hospitality professionals to fill the positions of a Stewards/ Waiters/Waitress

Duties
a)    Ensure the kitchen is clean, well maintained, and organized at all times.
b)    Ensure floors are dry and clean at all times.
c)    Assist the Cooks and Servers as and when necessary.
d)    Collects and removes trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures.
e)    Ensure the waste bin area is kept clean and tidy.
f)     Cleans and maintains floors and walls in kitchen and dishwashing area
g)    Greeting guests and taking drink and food orders
h)    Delivering food from the kitchen to the guests
i)     Ensuring the food order is made correctly by kitchen staff and looks presentable for guests
j)    Staying attentive to the needs of guests in the dining area
k)   Wiping tables and removing debris
l)    Delivering food beverages requested externally.

Required Qualifications
a)    Certificate (minimum qualification) in hospitality from a reputable institution
b)    Possess at least high school qualification
c)    Must be physically and medically fit
d)    Previous experience in a similar role and Knowledge of Basic Food Hygiene.
e)    Proven work experience as a waiter or waitress (Minimum1 year)
f)     Effective communicator
g)    Working efficiently with limited supervision
h)    The ability to work under pressure
i)     Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
j)     Active listening and effective communication skills
k)   Team spirit
l)    Flexibility to work in shifts
m)   Attentiveness and patience for customers
