Our client, a leading tour company based in Nairobi, is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Team Leader to manage and inspire their team of Tour Consultants. The successful candidate will play a key role in upholding company policies, achieving sales targets, spearheading product development, and ensuring the delivery of outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the team of Tour Consultants, nurturing a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to ensure alignment with company objectives and address any issues or concerns.
- Assess individual performance, provide constructive feedback, and lead performance improvement initiatives.
2. Sales and Target Achievement:
- Monitor team sales performance to ensure targets are consistently met or exceeded.
- Develop strategies and tactics to drive sales growth and market penetration.
- Analyze sales reports and market trends to identify opportunities for new sales initiatives.
3. Customer Service Excellence:
- Ensure the team delivers high-quality customer service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Address complex customer issues and complaints, providing solutions that enhance customer satisfaction.
- Implement customer service training and development for the team.
4. Product Development and Marketing:
- Collaborate with the product development team to create innovative tour packages that cater to diverse market segments.
- Provide input on marketing campaigns and promotional activities to maximize product visibility and appeal.
5. Policy and Procedure Compliance:
- Enforce company policies and procedures, maintaining compliance across all team activities.
- Update and communicate any changes in company policy, ensuring the team adheres to new regulations and standards.
6. Administrative Duties:
- Oversee scheduling and resource allocation to optimize team efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on team performance, sales figures, and customer feedback for management review.
7. Interdepartmental Coordination:
- Liaise with other departments (e.g., Marketing, Finance, Operations) to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Participate in company-wide initiatives and contribute to the overall strategy and success of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years proven experience as a team leader or supervisor in the tourism industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Tourism, Business Management, or a related field preferred. A diploma in tourism from Utalii College will be considered favourably too.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong sales acumen and customer service orientation.
- Ability to analyze data, interpret sales metrics, and compile reports.
- Knowledge of local and international tourism trends.
- Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office.
- Competency in Swahili and English; additional languages are a plus.
NB: This is a one year contract, and is subject to a three month probation period.
