TRAINING OF TRAINERS (TOT) FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP/FINANCIAL LITERACY FACILITATORS

Swisscontact endeavors to make a sustained, effective contribution towards the reduction of economic disparities in an increasingly complex, globalized world through promoting economic, social, and environmental development by helping people integrate into local economic life.
In Kenya, Swisscontact is implementing the Skills for Life (S4L) Project, a 3-year project whose goal is to strengthen the income generating capabilities of youth in Kakuma (refuge and host communities) by enhancing technical, financial, life and literacy skills for improved livelihoods.

The project aims at strengthening the income generating capabilities of youth within refugees and host community in Kakuma by enhancing technical, financial, life and literacy skills which will enable them to improve their livelihoods.

Enhanced resilience and livelihood coping among the refugees and host community in Kakuma.

2. The Assignment:
The Skills for Life project is looking to engage a consultant to conduct a Refresher Training of trainers’ workshop for 24 Resource persons (15 Community Based Trainers, 4 partner representatives from CBO’s and 5 Entrepreneurship/Financial literacy facilitators). The resource persons will be engaged to offer entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills training to members of Learning Groups (LG) who are about to transition into micro-businesses by giving them skills to enable them to compete with other entrepreneurs in the market.
3. Objective of the assignment
The principal objective of the assignment is to provide Training of Trainers entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills to selected resource persons in the project. The specific tasks to be undertaken by the consultant include:
• Prepare specifications for a training session on entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
• Formulating learning objectives for entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
• Define aids and teaching materials to facilitate training activities.
• Present the structure of a lesson plan.
• Use different facilitation skills.
• Manage a training session
• Assess the different knowledge taught during a training session
• Evaluating a training session
• Identify indicators of performance
4. Scope and tasks of the consultant
• Draw up a detailed training concept and schedule
• Train 24 participants
• Submit a final report
Outcome of the training
i. 24 Resource persons are equipped with skills on the management of a training session and gain the capacity to train the beneficiaries in their specific businesses.
ii. 24 Resource persons gain skills in developing and implementing training plans and evaluating training progress.
i. The training methodology to be used must be practical and should be participatory to enable the participants better understand and be able to use the knowledge to train the beneficiaries.
ii. Evaluation of training based on evaluation forms received from participants
iii. Draft report upon completion of training which will be circulated for comments
iv. Comprehensive final report that takes into account any comments, suggestions made, conclusions and recommendations based on lessons learnt for future interventions
v. Power point presentation of the training and any other relevant materials
vi. Certificates of participation for trainees.
6. Time frame:
The training is expected to be completed within 5 working days. Tentatively beginning from July 12th up to 16th 2021
7. Qualities, Experience, Education and Skills Required:
i. Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant themes such as Business Administration, Development Studies or Entrepreneurship. Additional qualifications in Enterprise Development and Value-Chains will be an added advantage.
ii. At least 5 years of extensive working experience in conducting trainings and consulting in provision of services by NGOs, Public sector, Private sector, marketing and small business development.
iii. Sound analytical and technical competence in the subject matter
iv. Have conducted similar exercise in the recent past
v. Excellent inter-personal communication skills including experience of facilitation of trainings/workshops and presentation
vi. Demonstrate high level of professionalism and an ability to work independently and in high pressure situations under tight deadlines.
8. Reporting Arrangements
The Consultant shall work closely with the project’s Business Support Coordinator under the overall oversight of the Project Manager.
9. Terms & Conditions
i. The Consultant shall adhere to the Swisscontact safety and security guidelines
ii. The Consultant shall provide the above services to the highest professional and quality standards
iii. The Consultant shall not assign or transfer any of the obligations or benefits of the engagement to third parties without prior notification and consent of the client (Swisscontact) in writing.
iv. The Consultant must ensure that the personnel engaged possess the necessary experience, qualifications and certifications for the execution of the tasks assigned
v. The Consultant shall be solely responsible for the personnel who execute the tasks assigned to them
vi. The Consultant shall have clear personnel management guidelines that are in tandem with the provisions of Labour Laws of Kenya.
vii. The Consultant must operate within the budget allocated and agreed upon.
10. APPLICATION PROCESS

ii. CV containing details of qualifications, experience and names of three professional referees.
iii. Evidence of similar engagements in the past.
