WIFI HOTSPOT TECHNICIAN with Microwave and Fiber installation background:

Ideal candidates should have experience  with: 

1. Optical Fiber, Transport Design, Capacity/ Planning, testing and analyzing fiber characterization test results, including Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) traces, source-power meter, and dispersion measurements.

2. use of Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF) and Single Mode Fiber (SMF) cables, splice cases and Fiber Distribution Panels (FDPs), drop cables, splitters and SFPs

3.  Microwave p2P radio technology with good knowledge of ubiquiti and cambium radios 

4.  Excellent knowledge of Mikrotik Router configuration , Ubiquiti and cambium access points would be required.

5.  Good knowledge of IP addressing and subnet masking a mus

   
   

   Responsibilities includes but not limited to:

1. (a) install indoor/outdoor wireless  P2P Radios to connect hostels from the Main HUB where there is clear line of sight and Fiber is not cost effective 

   (b) extend fiber drop cables from the  KPLC lines and install  access points to established reachability to  Student hostels and test overall system performance

   (b) Maintain Mikrotik routers to setup local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN) serving a large wifi hotspot center

   (c ) Troubleshoot daily user issues including restarting Aps etc which went off during KPLC outage 

   (d) Check on the user voucher subscription issues and troubleshoot as needed

   (e) Prepare and test CAT6 cables onsite. Run cables from the PoE switches to the APs and other wireless systems

   (f)Spice fibers using fiber machine and  install fiber splitters to distribute fiber strands to different hostels from the junction location 

   
   

   Qualifications:

   (a) Minimum Diploma In computer science/Math/Electrical or equivalent work experience

   (b) Previous experience in networking, IT especially WIFI, or other related fields

   (c) Familiarity with Mikrotik router and ubiquiti wifi equipment mentioned on the job responsibilities.

   (d) Strong troubleshooting and knowledge of Fiber

   (e) Knowledge or familiarity with network including IP addressing, network cabling, cisco routers, Cisco switches, Ubiquiti APs, Mikrotik, Cable testers, CAT6 Crimping tools, Tranceivers(SFP) etc

   (f) Understanding of Network wired/Wireless Technologies/terminologies including Hotspot, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac),TCP/IP, HTTP/XML, VOIP/Video Quality etc

   (g) Knowledge of GPON OLT/ONT fiber technology 

   (h) Fully versed in using the internet and cell phone communications.

   (i) Skilled in website building and/or scripting a plus .

   (j) Knowledge of operating motorbike would be a plus as you will be required to visit sites during troubleshooting 

   (k) Preferred Candidates should be coming from Rongo, Migori County Area where the HQ of the WIFI services is located.

   (L) must have no drug issue and will be required to provide  certificate of good conduct.

   (M) Must have a reliable working cell phone and reachable 24x7 by clients when network issues develops

   (N) Might be required to stay next to the server room or within the Hostel hosting the the  hub. Room/board/water/electricity will be provided.

   (O) If NOT qualified, DO not apply  because you u will have to pass 15 -30 mins whatsapp videoed technical  interview besides validation of your background
