Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level shall be responsible for:-

assisting the Farm Manager on day to day operations of the University Farm; ensuring production targets of each farm units are achieved; supervising staff and keeping attendance records; supervising students on attachment; field patrols/ scouting on regular basis and making reports; collecting soil samples from the fields as directed by the Farm Manager; record keeping of farm inputs and outputs; safeguarding farm inputs and outputs; and performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements for Direct Appointment

To be appointed to this grade, a candidate must:

have Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or any other related field; provide evidence of Computer skills in relevant field from a recognized institution; and have four years relevant working experience.

Requirements for Serving Officers

To be appointed to this grade, an officer must:

have Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or any other related field; provide evidence of Computer skills in relevant field from a recognized institution; have served as Farm Assistant, Grade 5/6 for at least three years; and have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
