April 1992. On television screens around the world, terrible images are playing in a loop. In the Balkans, the area is hit by violent armed conflicts, a consequence of the recent breakup of Yugoslavia. For local populations, the humanitarian consequences are very serious.

Founded a few months earlier, in December 1991, Secours Islamique France (SIF) was a very young charitable association. A major decision is made, that of taking action. In cooperation with partners, the structure then based in Saint-Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis) is launching an appeal for donations. The SIF is understood, the operation quickly led to a humanitarian emergency aid intervention in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The very first international action of the SIF remained engraved in the memory of our president and founder, Rachid Lahlou. Like all his collaborators, he is aware of the long road traveled since this period, thanks to the support and loyalty of donors. In thirty-two years of humanitarian and social projects , our NGO has firmly established itself in the French humanitarian landscape, and now has more than 700 employees in France and around the world, as well as 600 active volunteers in our country.
