InSupply Health, an affiliate of JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), is an independent, supply chain advisory firm based in East Africa that provides our clients with customized guidance on supply chain management and design. inSupply Health has an established track record of collaborating with partners in government, public health, and the private sector and excel at designing resilient supply chain solutions for essential health products and using information technology and innovation to drive health system performance. After three years as a donor-funded project, with a strong track record collaborating with stakeholders in East Africa to improve the performance and efficiency of supply chains, inSupply has transitioned to inSupply Health. Based in East Africa, with headquarters in Nairobi and a branch office in Dar es Salaam, inSupply Health is able to better meet the needs and budgets of regional and local partners, while drawing on its affiliation with JSI.

About the Role

inSupply is committed to supporting and fostering internal growth within the organization. As such, the Advisor -Capacity Building position is a stepping-stone to Senior Advisor and other leadership roles with support, mentorship, and skill development provided for growth towards those roles. inSupply Health is seeking a Kenyan candidate who is interested in growing with the organization, and is open to, and actively seeks regular and specific feedback about all aspects of professional and personal growth. The Advisor-Capacity Building will be expected to commit to an implementation model that includes continuous self-assessment and improvement, both professionally and personally, and peer-to-peer learning and support, all using a variety of performance improvement techniques and a competency framework. Given that inSupply Health is a young, start-up organization, our ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset, is passionate, energetic, and curious, and is a flexible and adaptive thinker who is self-driven and self-managing, team-oriented and who seeks robust, creative solutions to problems.

Qualifications

Education:

A Master’s degree in Public Health or a health-related field.

Experience:

At least Eight years of work experience in global health or development, with a minimum of Five years working in and implementing within the Ministry of Health systems. Experience in leading Quality Improvement teams in the public health sector to achieve desired outputs or results. Experience building relationships with a variety of partners working in both the private and public sector in Kenya is required. Experience working with such partners in other countries in the region is highly desirable. Documented experience in designing and facilitating competency-based learning events including classroom style training, on-the-job training, online learning and blended learning/flipped classroom models of capacity building, Experience in using process facilitation techniques for meeting planning and facilitation desirable. Experience with client engagement management and partnerships with members of ministries of health, donor agencies and private foundations. Demonstrated initiative and leadership skills, including the ability to energize, motivate, and support staff, consultants, advisors, and partners from different cultures and time zones. A proven ability to work as a part of a team, but be self-managing of own time and results, and to be a proactive and clear communicator. High levels of personal and professional ethics and integrity are required. Ability to assess and manage risks and strong customer service skills are strongly preferred. Excellent and proactive oral and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills (both analytical and problem-solving) and the ability to distill complex ideas into simple language. The ability to write concise, clear reports a strong requirement. Experience with gender programming will be an added advantage Ability to travel 40% time, locally, regionally, and internationally. Ability to use cloud-based productivity, project management, and database apps — specifically Google Suite, Miro, Zoom, CRM platform, and Slack. Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
