JOB SUMMARY
To manage the planning, planting, and harvesting of fodder to support livestock operations sustainably, and other crops.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop cropping plans (Napier, Rhodes, maize silage, etc.) aligned with feed demandManage soil health, fertilisation, irrigation, and pest controlCoordinate harvesting, ensiling, and hay baling operationsOptimise yield per acre and forage quality through data-driven practicesSupervise field labour and maintain field input/output recordsLiaise with livestock team to ensure feed availability matches herd needsDevelop seasonal and annual cropping calendars aligned to livestock feed demand and climatic conditionsSelect and manage forage crop varieties and seed sourcesMonitor and improve forage nutritional quality in collaboration with the livestock teamMaintain digital agronomy records and production dataEnsure compliance with environmental, safety, and agricultural regulationsPrepare and manage agronomy input budgetsKPIsTargeted fodder output met (e.g., silage for 200+ cattle)Minimal post-harvest lossesInput-to-output cost efficiencyAccurate field and production records
