Job Purpose
Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of their international client in the manufacturing industry is seeking
a motivated and reliable Assistant Operator, to support daily operations of automated packaging
equipment including Mosca, Emmepi, Signode, or similar strapping and handling systems within a
high-volume box/packaging plant. The Assistant Operator will assist with machine set-ups,
monitoring operations, basic troubleshooting, to ensure quality and productivity targets are met.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the setup, start-up, operation, and shutdown of strapping and packaging machines (e.g.,
Mosca, Emmepi, Signode).
• Load materials, packaging components and ensure machines are supplied throughout shift.
• Monitor machine performance, adjust settings as instructed, and assist with basic troubleshooting
to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Conduct routine quality checks on packages/boxes to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Assist with jam clearance, minor machine adjustments, and cleaning as required.
• Maintain accurate production records, including machine logs and quality checks.
• Ensure general housekeeping of the assigned work area to maintain safety and efficiency.
• Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or quality deviations promptly to the supervisor.
• Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to meet production targets
Qualifications
✓ Minimum 2 years of experience operating strapping, packaging, or related systems (e.g., Mosca,
Emmepi, Signode) in a busy production/box plant environment.
✓ Familiarity with machine setup, changeovers, and basic troubleshooting.
✓ Strong attention to detail and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
✓ Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
✓ Physical capability to stand for extended periods and handle moderate lifting as required.
