Associate Professor – Grade XIV at Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (MMUST)

Job Description

The Associate Professor responsibilities shall include:- Undertaking teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels in area of specialization as allocated by the Chair of the Department; Developing learning materials for knowledge dissemination on a variety of platforms; Conducting research and producing publications or other research outputs; Participating and writing of research winning grant proposals to enhance university research funds; Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research; Contributing to the development, planning and implementation of quality curriculums; Participating in departmental and School seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building multi-disciplinary collaborations within and outside the department; Participating in the development , administration and managing of examinations in the University; Participating and providing technical expertise in departmental, School and University wide committees; Providing guidance and counselling of students; Involvement in community outreach activities; Assessing students on teaching and industrial attachment; Providing mentorship to both students and staff in the Department or School; Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars; and Any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Chairperson of Department.

Job Specification

Minimum requirements:-

An earned PhD from a recognized University OR a Master’s Degree with subspecialty experience for at least three years for those in Health Sciences, Engineering and ICT; Three years’ experience since last appointment as Senior Lecturer; Published at least four publications in credible and refereed journals OR one University level book since last appointment as Senior Lecturer; Supervised at least four postgraduate students to completion, two of which must be PhDs since last appointment OR three postgraduate students to completion, one of which must be PhD for special cases OR a cumulative total of eight Master students for Health Sciences, Engineering and ICT; Registered with at least one professional body where applicable; Must demonstrate evidence of having attracted Research funds/Development Funds; and Must demonstrate evidence of active community outreach/engagement
