Job Purpose

Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of their client in the medical industry, is seeking a disciplined and detail-oriented Cleaning & Housekeeping Officer to support the maintenance of high hygiene and sanitation standards within a healthcare environment. The role is critical in ensuring compliance with healthcare infection prevention protocols and government regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sterile environment across all facility areas, thereby directly contributing to patient safety, staff wellbeing, and overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

 Perform thorough cleaning and sanitization of patient wards, offices, washrooms, corridors, and high-touch surfaces.

 Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control (IPC) standards within a medical environment.

 Safely handle, segregate, and dispose of medical and general waste in line with regulatory requirements.

 Ensure continuous availability of cleaning supplies and report shortages proactively.

 Maintain and properly use cleaning tools and equipment.

 Support deep cleaning exercises and emergency sanitation requirements in sensitive or high-risk areas.

 Follow established protocols when handling biohazard materials and contaminated surfaces.

 Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health and institutional hygiene standards at all times.

Qualifications

 Minimum KCSE/O-Level certificate or equivalent.

 3–5 years’ experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility (mandatory).

 Demonstrated understanding of infection prevention, sanitation procedures, and safe chemical handling.

 High attention to detail with the ability to consistently maintain cleanliness standards.

 Physically fit with the ability to perform manual tasks over extended periods.

 Reliable, disciplined, and able to follow strict operational protocols.

 Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
