Job Summary

Our client, a manufacturing company seeks to hire a meticulous and analytical Costing & Efficiency Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficiency of the production processes, including capex utilization, adherence to product processes formulations & standard operating procedures, manpower loading, machine output & quality utilization. Importantly, variance analysis, overall risk control, formulation of product standard costs and putting into consideration all inputs such as raw materials, labor and utilities.

  • Minimum Qualification : Bachelors
  • Experience Level : Mid level
  • Experience Length : 10 years

Job Description/Requirements

The key tasks will include; Implementing the BSO Costing systems in all Manufacturing for maximising the margins through cost reduction and efficient use of resources, establishing accurate standard costs for all articles in the production units. Critically, the role will aid in taking decisions, streamlining associate operations, rationalising fabrication charges to maximise advantages to the company and introducing/following up on Purchase Price Concept in every deal with outsourced works.


Key responsibilities

  •  Initiate and help in establishing efficiency standards in use of manpower, machines and materials in all manufacturing units.
  •  Approve article costings in all manufacturing units as well as supplies from associates before final approval by the Managing Director.
  •  Co-ordinate with Product Development and Merchandising in developing new articles with improved margins and better market potential.
  • Co-ordinate with Marketing Department to develop alternate materials with cost benefits without compromising quality.
  •  Special emphasis on Export and Tender costing and assist in making export and tender articles competitive.
  •  Identify and eliminate imperfections like manipulation losses, use of non-standard materials, designs/abnormalities.
  •  Develop Standard Cost Administration System to perform functions such as; Weekly delivered margins from manufacturing units and Weekly freeze intake margins for manufacturing units.
  •  Conduct Production efficiency cost exercises in each manufacturing unit and generate savings through reduction in non-productive expenses and alternate raw materials.
  •  Prepare analytical reports on operational aspects for the use of Managing Director, or as directed.
  •  Ensure standard costing procedures in all manufacturing units, advise on controlling non- productive expenses and maintain harmonious relationship between Costing Department and Production departments, for maximum results.


Qualifications

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Finance & Accounting, Economics or Statistics. In addition, a Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  •  At least 10 years of working experience; five (5) of which must be within a busy, fast- paced manufacturing/FMCG setting in a similar role such as Cost Accountant or Cost Analyst.
  •  Certification in CPA (K) or Certified Cost Professional will be an added advantage.
  •  Requisite knowledge in Cost accounting skills, good understanding of accounting procedures, financial reporting and statistical presentations. Knowledge of Ms. Dynamycs is an added advantage.
  •  Strong consultative and influencing skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across all levels and bring together stakeholders.
  •  Results-oriented, flexible and adaptable to rapid change, with the comfort working in a fast-paced, high demand environment.
  •  Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
