Job Summary

Stara Microcredit Limited is actively seeking highly motivated and experienced Credit Officers to join our team, specializing in women's financial empowerment. This role is instrumental in facilitating the credit process, managing risk, and ensuring the successful financial inclusion of women entrepreneurs. We are looking for dynamic individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of women through financial empowerment.

Job Description/Requirements

Location: MOMBASA, KILIFI, KWALE, TAITA TAVETA.


Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Onboarding:

• Actively recruit and onboard new groups of women entrepreneurs into the microcredit program.

• Ensure a smooth onboarding process, providing comprehensive information on available financial products.

• Train, educate, empower the recruited group/member on Stara Microcredit Ltd products and services for smooth and quality groups' onboarding.

Group Management:

• Manage and nurture relationships with existing women groups, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

• Conduct regular group meetings to address concerns, provide updates, and encourage financial empowerment.

Credit Control and Risk Management:

• Oversee credit risk management processes to ensure prudent lending practices.

• Implement effective credit control measures to minimize financial risks.

• Manage bad debt and implement strategies for debt recovery.

Debt Managment:

• Develop and implement strategies for effective debt collection.

• Initiate and conduct debt recovery procedures professionally and in a timely manner.

Assistance in Onboarding:

• Collaborate with team members in onboarding new groups and individual clients.

• Provide support to ensure a smooth onboarding process for women entrepreneurs.

Initiate and Hold Due Diligence Process:

• Take an active role in initiating and managing the due diligence process for loan applicants.

• Conduct thorough assessments, including home visits, to ensure accurate and comprehensive due diligence.

Appraisals and Qualification:

• Conduct appraisals before loans are qualified, ensuring adherence to established criteria.

• Collaborate closely with team members to evaluate the creditworthiness of applicants.

Reporting:

• Provide detailed and timely reports on activities related to credit control, debt collection, and due diligence.

• Keep the company informed of key developments and trends in credit-related functions.

Collaboration and Support:

• Collaborate with Credit Officers and cross-functional teams for effective communication and coordination.

• Provide support to fellow team members in achieving common goals and objectives.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree/diploma in finance, Business Administration, or a related field. 

• Proven experience as a Credit Officer with a focus on financial inclusion, especially for women.

• Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, due diligence, and credit control.

• Excellent financial analysis skills and proficiency in relevant software tools.

• Demonstrated experience in debt collection and bad debt management.


Credit Officer-Specific Qualifications:

• Age between 23 and 35 years.

• Both genders are highly encouraged to apply.


Skills: In addition to the skills mentioned earlier, the successful candidate should possess:

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Ability to motivate and encourage women entrepreneurs towards financial empowerment.

• Proficient in conducting group appraisals and collaborating with Credit Control teams.

• Excellent reporting skills with the ability to generate real-time reports.

• Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to work within diverse communities.
