Position Title: Electronics Technician
Job Description:
Somali Institute of Technology is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various electronic equipment and devices. Additionally, this role will involve teaching courses to students, thus requiring the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to learners. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in electronics repair and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with a wide range of electronic equipment and devices.
2. Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components using appropriate tools and techniques.
3. Conduct routine maintenance to ensure the optimal performance and longevity of electronic systems.
4. Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to facilitate repair processes.
5. Collaborate with other team members to expedite repairs and meet deadlines.
6. Document all repair activities accurately for reference and future troubleshooting.
7. Stay updated on the latest technological advancements and repair techniques in the field of electronics.
8. Develop and deliver instructional materials for courses related to electronics repair.
9. Teach theoretical concepts and practical skills to students in a classroom/lab setting.
10. Assess student learning through assignments, quizzes, and practical demonstrations.
11. Provide guidance and mentorship to students to enhance their understanding and skills.
12. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety and efficiency.
Job Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as an Electronics Technician or similar role, with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in electronics repair.
3. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a variety of electronic equipment, including but not limited to: consumer electronics, industrial machinery, communication devices, and medical equipment.
4. Strong understanding of electronic circuits, components, and systems.
5. Excellent multitasking abilities with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Proficient in using electronic testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and soldering irons.
7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
9. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
10. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules, including occasional overtime and weekend shifts.
Education and Certifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Certification from recognized electronics training programs or industry associations is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
2. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for intricate repair tasks.
