Farm Assistant - Agronomist - Siaya

Serena Farm Enterprises in Seme Kisumu County is a farming enterprises practicing sustainable agriculture, land management and agribusiness to create sustainable jobs opportunities to youths. The farm boasts of cereals crops, horticulture and livestock production on commercial basis. It also promotes organic farming system. Improved soils health, water harvesting management, farm produce value addition, promote inclusive market driven production and environmental management for sustainable economic growth

The is currently seeking the services of two(2) students on a three months industrial attachment on their farm located along Bondo Kombewa road in Kanyadwera village next to Rapogi Secondary school in Seme sub county. The farm offers hostel accommodations at a cost of Kenya Shillings Three thousand (Kshs. 3,000) only per month within the farm compound. The farm willing to offer some stipend based on the students performance and attitude towards ones engagement on the farm

Qualifications:

°  Certificate or diploma in Horticulture from a government of Kenya recognized agricultural institute/College in Kenya

°  Good communications skills

°  Teamwork

°  Good farm record keeping skills

°  willingness to learn and put the learning into practice

°  Knowledge of good agronomic practices (GAP)

°  Knowledge of post-harvest practices

Roles and responsibilities

°  Farm management

°  Farm records keeping

°  Promotion of good agricultural practices

°  Weeding of the crops

°  Pruning of the crops/plants

°  harvesting of the produce

°  Sorting, grading and packaging of the produce for markets

°  Promote value addition

°  marketing of the produce
