Uniquely, we sell our life-changing Sun King solar home lights to off-grid families in India and Africa through a massive direct sales force of trusted, village-level sales agents that penetrate deeply into rural markets to promote our products home to home and build trust in our brand at a micro level. We’re now expanding our distribution network from three states to the whole of rural India and East Africa, an under-penetrated market of half a billion emerging consumers. About the role:

The Field Relations Lead will be responsible for monitoring health and safety risks Sun King sales agents face while marketing, selling, and installing Sun King’s products. Advocating for the health, safety, and wellbeing of Sun King’s more than 11, commission sales agents in Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania, the person will develop risk management and mitigation practices and work closely with cross-functional business heads to ensure they are implemented throughout the sales organization.

What you would be expected to do

Collect and evaluate data related to health and safety incidents and risks encountered by Sun King’s field-based team members, including commission sales agents and full time employees. Regularly visit field sales teams across Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania to gather firsthand information on sales agents’ experiences, their satisfaction levels, and the health and safety risks they encounter through focus group discussions, one on one conversations, and through shadowing sales agent activities. This role requires approximately 25-30% travel each month, with flexibility in scheduling. Investigate the root causes of emerging trends in health and safety related matters. Prepare monthly and quarterly dashboards for Sun King’s Management team to convey: the prevalence of health and safety related risks; rate of health and safety incidents; concerns related to non-compliance with Sun King’s health and safety protocol; and emerging safety, security, or other wellbeing risks. In conjunction with the training team, develop training programs to raise awareness of how to prevent and approach known risks. Conduct annual health and safety risk assessments to assess continued areas of potential concern and identify emerging risks or areas of concern. Create corrective action plans and work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues from Sun King’s Sales, Training, PAYG Programs, Human Resources, and Risk teams to develop new risk management practices such as policies, processes, training, or other solutions to continuously mitigate risks and improve the experience and well-being of our commission agents. When required, coordinate company approach to emergencies or situations that require urgent, immediate attention within our field sales teams.

You might be a strong candidate if you

Have experience leading risk assessments, conducting evaluation of HS related risks, or implementing health and safety strategies or management systems, preferably with distributed field team settings Have at least 3 years experience with health, safety, security, or risk management or at least 3 years of senior people management in a field sales organization. Have project management experience, especially in working across diverse groups of stakeholders from different lines of business, cultures, regions, and nationalities. Are able to balance approximately 30% domestic and pan-Africa travel with an office-based work routine.
