Job Description

The National Gender Equality Commission is a constitutional Commission established by an Act of Parliament in August , as a successor commission to the Kenya National Human Rights and Equality Commission pursuant to Article 59 of the Constitution. NGEC derives its mandate from Articles 27, 43, and Chapter Fifteen of the Constitution; and section 8 of NGEC Act (Cap. 15) of , with the objectives of promoting gender equality and freedom from discrimination.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

An officer at this level will be responsible for the following duties: Participating in the preparation of the Commission’s Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF); Participating in the preparation of annual budgets in collaboration with all departments/units; Participating in the allocation and utilization of financial resources Participating in forecasting and monitoring expenditure; Prioritizing projects and activities for the purpose of financial allocations in the budget; Preparing periodic financial reports; and Assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and work plans.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

Served in the grade of Finance Officer II for a minimum period of three years; A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce (Finance Option), Business Administration (Finance Option) or any other relevant and comparable qualification from a recognized institution; Attended a supervisory skills course in a recognized institution; Knowledge in computerized financial management systems; Met the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya, ; Been a Member of a relevant professional body where applicable; and Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
