REA was established under Section 66 of the Energy Act to accelerate the pace of rural electrification in order to promote socio- economic development. Our mission is to efficiently provide high quality and affordable electricity connectivity in all rural areas and to achieve high standards of customer service through advancing community participation to ensure long term sustainability and socio-economic development. Our mandate is to To accelerate the pace of rural electrification in order to promote sustainable socio-economic development.
Duties and responsibilities will entail:-
Developing masterplan for grid networks for the Corporation; Overseeing the Design, Construction, Operation and Management in the Corporation Ensuring efficient and effective organizational direction, management and coordination of activities and programmes in the Directorate; Ensuring the projects identified are designed and implemented on time in an efficient and effective manner and in accordance with the industry acceptable standards and as per the REREC strategic plan; Providing efficient and timely technical advice on all technical matters; Promoting management and technological innovations to enhance the directorates efficiency; Establishing operational linkages with other directorates of the Corporation; and Establishing collaboration linkages with other relevant stakeholders in the energy sector.Person specification
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
A minimum period of twelve years’ of relevant work experience five of which must have been in senior management level; Masters degree in any of the following: Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Energy Management, or relevant degree from a recognized institution; Bachelors degree in any of the following: Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Electronics Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; Registered with Engineers Board of Kenya; Member of the Institute of Engineers of Kenya; Certificate in leadership course lasting not less than four weeks; Knowledge of the industry and energy sector; Demonstrated competence in work performance; Proficiency in computer Applications; and Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution.Key Competencies and skills
