Avenue Hospital was founded in for the purpose of managing the outpatient department at the Hospital, and to extend medical services to corporate clientele through an innovative concept of Managed Healthcare.

Job Objective/Purpose

Planning, organizing and coordinating all the accounting activities in the hospital, by implementing the hospital’s sustainability initiatives, and financial processes and reporting, in line with approved policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

People Management: Lead and supervise the unit finance/accounting teams in delivering individual and team targets by providing professional and high standards of service.Prepare monthly work schedules (ROTA) and ensure efficient use of overtimes and locums.Provide leadership, ensuring staff development, engagement, performance, and ensure monthly staff meetings with documented evidence.  Coordinate the development of annual and periodic Hospital level Budgets, with the HM.  Monitor the Management of hospital costs through proactive data review to identify opportunities to improve on efficiencies.  Oversee the hospital level credit management and implementation, including implementing the credit policy for uninsured individuals to reduce the risk of bad debt.  Overseeing daily facility level cash/cheque collections and bank reconciliations.  Overseeing timely submission of error free claims/invoices to insurance companies/ head office.  Oversee the facility level stock take and inventory management together with the relevant HODs.  Work with the Head of Credit to analyze remittance advice from different clients, review rejections, and prepare reclaimable payment reports. 9.Run performance analysis reports, including revenue and cost breakdown, and analysis of margins, and prepare monthly hospital financial statements and reports for the Hospital Manager and Financial Controller. Ensure all fixed assets purchased for the Hospital are recorded in the assets’ register / Finance System, ensuring due process is followed. Oversee specialist doctors’ payments at Hospital level, in liaison with the hospital accounts team. Ensure adequate knowledge of, and compliance to all Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and systems, especially policies pertaining to the provision of medical services. Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies are adhered to, including preventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, and Implementing audit recommendations.

Personal Specifications

 Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field. CPA (K) Qualification  4+ years experience in a similar role, preferably in a Hospital set-up  Expert knowledge in credit management, cost management, financial reporting, budgetting and business analytics  Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, team playing abilities, and communication skills.  Highly responsive, ethical and responsible
