Who we are
The East Africa Tea Trade Association (EATTA) is a voluntary, non-profit umbrella body representing the interests of the tea industry in Africa. We are seeking a qualified and motivated ICT Manager to join our team in Mombasa.
Key Responsibilities
1. ICT Strategy and Governance:
• Develop, implement, and monitor EATTA’s ICT Strategy and Annual ICT Work Plan in alignment with organizational objectives
• Advise the Managing Director and Board Committees on ICT risks, investments, and emerging technologies.
2. Systems Development and Digital Transformation:
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the Integrated Tea Trading System (iTTS), ensuring availability, reliability, and scalability.
• Champion innovation and adoption of digital solutions that enhance EATTA’s role in the regional tea value chain, including traceability, sustainability reporting, and digital payments.
3. ICT Infrastructure and Security Management:
• Manage EATTA’s hybrid IT infrastructure (on-premises and cloud – Azure and AWS), networking equipment, and end-user devices.
• Implement and monitor cybersecurity controls (Cisco Firepower, FortiGate, endpoint protection, and intrusion detection systems) to safeguard organizational data and ensure business continuity.
4. ICT Policy, Risk, and Compliance:
• Develop and enforce ICT policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user guidelines covering data security, system usage, and ICT ethics.
• Conduct regular ICT risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to address operational and strategic ICT risks.
5. Business Continuity and Member Support:
• Ensure uninterrupted availability of trading systems during auction sessions through proactive monitoring, redundancy planning, and incident response.
• Maintain service level agreements (SLAs) with stakeholders and drive continuous improvement of system performance and user experience
6. Capacity Building and Stakeholder Engagement:
• Build ICT capacity among staff and members through training on digital systems, cybersecurity, and online auction processes.
• Represent EATTA in inter-agency technical working groups and contribute to policy discussions on e-commerce, data governance, and digital agriculture
7. Other Duties:
• Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or Computer Science.
• Master’s degree in Project Planning and Management, ICT Management, or Business
Administration will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive ICT experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Proven expertise in managing hybrid ICT infrastructure (on-premises and cloud), systems administration, network security, and enterprise applications.
• Hands-on experience managing mission-critical trading or financial systems, preferably in commodity exchanges or digital marketplaces.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, VMware, Cisco networking, and enterprise monitoring tools.
• Professional certifications such as ITIL, CCNA, PRINCE2, or equivalent is desirable.
• Experience in the tea industry will be an added advantage.
Job Working Conditions
• Normal office environment with occasional evening or weekend work.
• Fieldwork and travel may be required
