Egerton University is the oldest institution of higher learning in Kenya. It was founded as a Farm School in by Lord Maurice Egerton of Tatton, a British national who settled in Kenya in the s. In , the School was upgraded to an Agricultural College offering diploma programmes. The Egerton Agricultural College Ordinance was enacted in . In , the Government of Kenya and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded a major expansion of the institution. In , Egerton Agricultural College was gazetted as a constituent college of the University of Nairobi. The following year, , marked the establishment of Egerton University through an Act of Parliament. Egerton University has three Campuses and one Campus College.

Requirements
Applicants MUST have the following academic/professional qualifications: An earned Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry from a recognized University and be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable)OR
Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from a recognized University with at least three years teaching experience at university level of in research or in industry. A minimum of twenty-four publication points, of which at least sixteen should be from refereed journals papers. Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
