JOB SUMMARY
To manage and optimize the health, productivity, and welfare of cattle, goats, and sheep.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement feed rations, including TMR, silage/hay integration, molasses, and urea-based fattening protocols, aligned with growth and production targetsMonitor growth performance and maintain animal health protocols, including vaccination, deworming, routine disease surveillance, and early detection of health issuesSupervise breeding programmes, including heat detection, breeding selection, calving/lambing, weaning, and castrationOversee young stock management and transition stages (weaning, grower, finishing)Maintain up-to-date livestock records and reporting systems, including digital records by species and production stageSupervise labour handling livestock and ensure best practices in animal handling, loading, transport, and biosecurityLiaise with the agronomy and feed teams to ensure feed availability and ration alignment with herd requirementsEnsure compliance with animal welfare standards, halal requirements, and livestock transport regulationsMonitor feed intake, body condition scores, and mortality trends, and recommend corrective actions where requiredSupport livestock production planning, stocking rates, and herd performance forecastingKPIsWeight gain benchmarks met per species Mortality rate <5
