The IRC has been working in Kenyasince 1992, where it implements programs in health, nutrition, governance andrights, Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE), Protection, and EconomicRecovery and Development (ERD).Job Purpose/Objective:IRC is seeking a Driver to provideall necessary safe driving and fleet management in support to the field projectactivities in Dadaab field office and operate with maximum efficiency whileadhering to IRC’s Supply Chain Vehicle and Equipment requirements as per theManual.Key ResponsibilitiesIRC Drivers are responsible for:Handling the safe transportationof IRC personnel.The safe transportation of IRCmaterials.The care and maintenance of IRCvehicles and their accessories.Accurate filling and on vehiclesonboard documentation.Key Result Areas:Adhering technically to the IRC’svehicle policies and procedures, including the use of seatbelts by allpassengers.Daily and pre-long distancevehicle checks, accurate upkeep of the vehicle’s log sheet.Keeping vehicles cleaned, fueled,and mechanically maintained.Checking and maintaining allvehicle accessories and advising the Head driver of any defects or problems.QualificationsKCSE level of education.The driver is encouraged to have avalid driving license always.Communication skills, with fluencyin written and spoken English.Knowledge of Basic ComputerPackages.Pass score on IRC driving test.Required Experience & Proficiency:Proven ability in the followingcompetencies:Two years’ work experience as aprofessional driver.No road safety-related fines orconvictions.Detailed knowledge of road rulesand regulations.Skills in minor vehicle repair.Competent in spoken and writtenEnglish.Basic numeracy.Knowledge (or ability to quicklylearn) of HF, VHF, and satellite communications equipment.Dedicated to teamwork andproblem-solving abilities.Able to carry out limited,un-supervised tasks.Assets and Equipment ManagementMake certain all IRC assets andequipment under you are well maintained.Ensure all assets that areallocated to individuals subordinate to you are signed off on the equipmentissue form provided by the supply chain officer in charge of asset management.Ensure that all IRC premises underyou are well maintained.Guarantee the movement of IRCassets is supervised and advice Head driver in preparation for the vitaldocumentation for sign off and approval when an asset changes its status withinthe transport department.Safety and Security.To ensure that staff operate in asafe and secure working environment.To ensure that the IRC vehicle(s)assigned to you have all the safety requirements for movement.Certify there are fully stockedFirst Aid Kits available in all IRC VehiclesTo ensure regular security checkswith the field safety and security officer before authorizing any movement outof the field.Standards of ProfessionalConduct: The IRC and IRC workers should carry through, the values andprinciples outlined in the IRC Way – Code of Conduct.
