JOB SUMMARY
Knowledge & SkillsKnowledge of the principles of operation of the internal combustion engine (gasoline and diesel, two and four stroke) and other mechanical components such as brake systems (air and hydraulic), the electrical system and the hydraulic systemAbility to keep records and prepare written reportsAbility to instruct equipment operators on the application of preventive maintenanceProficient English language skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to perform mathematical calculations required on the jobPrevious work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.Valid country driver's license and passport.Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).Experience & EducationFive (5) years’ experience working as an industrial Mechanic on Marine power system enginesHigh school diploma or equivalentCertifications from a related mechanical trade schoolPossess valid Driver’s LicenseAdditional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs maintenance, repair, and preservation of gasoline and diesel engines, 25 horsepower and above two- and four-stroke outboard engines, hydraulic systems, cargo pumps and valves, tank valves, air compressors and welding machinesEnsures marine operations will be conducted IAW most current U.S. Coast Guard standards, CFR 49, IMDGC, OSHA 29 CFR 1917 and 1918, ATP 4-15, and host nation standardsDevelops fleet maintenance programs, and employee training programsEnsures annual inspections are conducted on all watercraftPerforms preventive maintenance to include lubricating, cleaning, servicing, inspecting, and testing equipmentUses manual and computerized diagnostic equipment to evaluate, troubleshoot, make adjustments and diagnose equipment malfunctions or defectsRepairs/replaces various parts and assemblies using mechanic power and hand toolsInterprets technical manuals, schematics, and blue prints to perform inspections, diagnosis, wiring procedures, and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, ignition, lighting, warning, and injection assemblies and component systemsCleans and cares for tools, equipment and shop facilitiesFollows safety rules and practices, and complies with Environmental standards in the performance of dutiesPerforms heavy body and sub-frame repairs and/or gelcoat, fiberglass repairsOther responsibilities as assigned
