About the Role:
BURN is looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible is to design, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s computer networks, encompassing both local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). This entails configuring network devices, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring network security to safeguard against unauthorized access and cybersecurity threats. You will monitor network performance, plan for future growth, collaborate with other IT teams, and adhere to industry standards and company policies. Your expertise in networking protocols, hardware, software, and problem-solving, along with effective communication skills, are crucial for successfully optimizing network performance and supporting the company’s connectivity needs.Duties and Responsibilities:
Network Design and Implementation: Design, plan, and implement computer networks, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, SDWANs, and wireless networks. Evaluate network requirements, recommend solutions, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective network design and deployment. Network Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and manage network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. Install and upgrade network hardware and software, apply patches and security updates, and maintain network documentation. Network Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve network bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and performance degradation. Implement network monitoring tools and analyze network traffic to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Network Security: Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats. Configure firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and other security technologies. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Network Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve network-related issues, including connectivity problems, routing errors, and network equipment failures. Utilize network diagnostic tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve network problems in a timely manner. Network Capacity Planning: Assess network capacity and plan for future growth and scalability. Conduct capacity planning exercises, analyze network traffic patterns, and make recommendations for network expansion and upgrades to meet evolving business needs. Network Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Generate reports on network performance, availability, and security incidents as required. Collaboration and Project Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, application developers, and security specialists, to support project initiatives. Provide network expertise and guidance in the planning and execution of projects. Network Standards and Best Practices: Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and network standards. Implement best practices for network design, configuration, and security to ensure a robust and reliable network infrastructure.Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Industry certifications, such as CISSP, CCNP, CCNA, NSE 1-4. 4+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on designing and implementing network infrastructure. Working experience with the Fortinet ecosystem. Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPN, WLAN, SDWANs). Experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network management tools. Familiarity with network security principles and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and access control. Proficiency in network troubleshooting and diagnostic tools (Wireshark, Ping, Traceroute) and network monitoring solutions (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios). Understanding of network capacity planning and performance optimization techniques. Knowledge of network virtualization technologies (SDN, VLAN, VXLAN) is a plus. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
