Job summary

The Operations Assistant act as the right hand to the COO.He/She will work on projects&tasks within each of the departments with the guidance and mentorship of the COO. The role ensures effective, efficient, and compliant operations that support the company’s goals of reducing waste increasing efficiency, and improving quality across departments.

Job descriptions & requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receive instructions/guidance from the COO, and then complete small, medium and large sized projects across the company. Own the projects. Examples:
o Evaluating the use of casuals at the factory
o Considering new and or different equipment to improve efficiency
o Reviewing and improving customer facing documents
o Reviewing and improving training material
o Field visits to identify areas for improvement on sourcing and logistics
o Ensuring that the technology is being properly utilized/maximized
• Perform operational checks on any of the major initiatives within the company.
• Follow/shadow the COO, ensuring that all tasks that go beyond his capacity to follow up are completed well and on schedule.
• Consistently identify opportunities for increased efficiencies, improved quality, reduced waste.
• Work and communicate collaboratively and cordially with each of the other major departments to ensure
congeniality and effectiveness.

The suitable candidate will be/have:
• Data smart – Advanced excel, able to use data to find trends and make decisions
• Versatile – Able to work on many different types of projects at once; this is a very diverse job.
• Flexible – Understanding of the needs of a fast moving, fast changing and growing company; need to be able to pivot quickly.
• Well organized – Capable of setting deadlines, maintaining clean records and files.
• Independent worker – Once given guidance/training, able to stay on task and complete a job with minimal supervision.
• Quick learner – Capable of understanding many different topics at once, able to stay focused and build expertise.
• Proactive – Full of ideas, and does not wait to be asked to share their opinions.
• Creative problem solver – Capable of seeing multiple options for a given scenario.
• Hungry – Ambitious, with a desire to learn fast and contribute massively to the needs of the company.
• Good communicator –
• Curious and relentless – Never stop asking if things can be done differently to be better. Never stop trying to improve.
• Familiar with project management – PM experience a plus.
• Evidence of professional excellence in one or many fields relevant to the client
• Min 5 years’ experience succeeding in a fast-paced environment, with proof or project/departmental
ownership.
• Fluent in Kiswahili and English.
