Ruben Centre is a faith-based organization striving for an empowered and just Mukuru community by providing quality education, health, financial and social services to children and families in Mukuru community. The Ruben Centre is a non-profit, charity organization run by the Christian Brothers African Province. It is one of eight Christian Brother’s project sites across Africa, and offers educational, health and community development programmes to the residents of one of the largest slums in Nairobi (known as both the Ruben Slum as well as Mukuru community). Key Responsibilities:
Preparation and packaging of drugs ready for dispensing to patients; Monthly ordering/Procurement of drugs from our suppliers; Keeping a formulary of essential drugs to avoid wastage; Directing patients with prescriptions accordingly to the relevant departments for their clearance; Dispensing drugs to patients with approved prescriptions; Ensure good order in the dispensing and store room; Keep up to date records of drugs in the system as prescribed; Use of FIFO (first in first out) basis in dispensing drugs; Use of FEFO (first expiry first out) basis; Record of Antibiotics consumption and other drugs; Records of injections on a daily basis; Issue Pharmacy reports to the Health Centre Manager at the end of each monthRequirements
which should also include:
Coartem monthly consumption (malarial drug) ARVS monthly consumption. Assist the auditors to take the stocktaking at the end of each year; Supervise all activities in the pharmacy store and report any anomalies to the Health Centre Manager; Any other task that may be assigned from time to time.Key Qualifications and Competencies:
Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology; At least 3 years’ experience.; Must have registration certificate from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB); Valid practicing license; Good report writing and analytical skills; Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision Good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills; Excellent store management/Procurement skills preferredImportant Safety Tips
