Job Purpose
Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of our client, a prominent and growing chain of restaurants in Mombasa, is seeking a skilled and passionate Pizza Chef. Based in Mombasa, the successful candidate will drive the culinary execution of our pizza station, specializing in traditional, hand-crafted (hand-stretched) artisanal pizzas. This role serves as a crucial link in our kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, authentic flavor profiles, and consistent consistency to deliver an outstanding coastal dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare authentic, high-quality pizza dough from scratch daily, managing fermentation times and portions.
• Expertly hand-stretch and toss dough using traditional manual techniques without relying on mechanical rollers.
• Set up, restock, and maintain the pizza station with fresh ingredients, house sauces, and premium toppings.
• Monitor and operate specialized pizza ovens (wood-fired, gas, or electric) to achieve perfect crust texture and bake.
• Inspect every pizza before it leaves the kitchen to ensure adherence to portion sizes, presentation, and recipe standards.
• Maintain strict food safety and sanitation practices in alignment with public health standards and kitchen guidelines.
• Monitor ingredient stock levels, minimize food wastage, and communicate weekly ordering needs to the Head Chef.

Qualifications
✓ Minimum of 2 years of active experience working as a Pizza Chef in a high-volume restaurant, pizzeria, or hospitality environment.
✓ Demonstrated expertise in making hand-crafted, artisanal pizzas with a deep understanding of dough hydration and manual stretching techniques.
✓ A certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts, Food and Beverage Production, or equivalent training is an added advantage.
✓ Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure during peak dining hours while standing for long periods.
✓ Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work smoothly alongside the wider kitchen brigade.
✓ Comfortable working within Mombasa and adaptable to flexible restaurant shift schedules (including weekends and evenings).
