JOB SUMMARY

The Port Controller is responsible for assigning docking and mooring spaces and maintaining navigable channels to ensure the safe and orderly flow of boating traffic in a harbor. RequirementsFour (4) years of experience in law enforcement, marine conservation, marine construction, marine transportation, marine maintenance, commercial fishing or as a merchant or United States Navy seamanHigh School Diploma or equivalentThorough knowledge of the operational and maintenance requirements of harbor facilities and equipment Possesses good knowledge of nautical calculations and terminologyMust be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in the enforcement of marine ordinances and studiesOperates the communication nets for all marine trafficEnsures all logbooks and records are properly maintainedPrepares reports of harbor activitiesRecords movements of all vessels in and out of the harborCommunicates times of departuresArranges requests for emergency assistanceMaintains orderly and safe boating conditions and enforces local marine ordinancesSupervises the maintenance of markers, buoys, floats, etc., and submits requisitions for the purchase of harbor equipmentAssigns mooring spaces to power and sail boatsSurveys and records the number, size and types of boats using harbor facilitiesPerforms other job responsibilities as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS

Warehouse management, Logistics planning and management, Transport law, Container solutions (Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes)

REQUIRED EDUCATION

High, secondary school
