Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a senior level Power Sector Program Leads to support various upcoming opportunities with US funding institutions. Projects will target advancing the energy sector, specifically as related to electricity, by way of technical support and advisory services, of countries including, but not limited to Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Kosovo. Projects will be performed in close coordination with US funding agencies and local stakeholder counterparts.

- Demand-side Management and Energy Efficiency
- Electric Utility Reform and Restructuring
- Power Systems Planning & Monitoring
- Private Sector Participation & Electricity Access
- Legal & Regulatory
- Renewable Energy Technologies
- Tariffs & Power Economics
- Environmental, Resettlement, Social and Gender Considerations
These positions will require periodic travel to in-country project sites as well as to client meetings in the US. Amec Foster Wheeler’s senior level Power Sector Program Leads will provide technical leadership, project management, and strategy and design services for the power sector; successful candidates will report administratively to Amec Foster Wheeler’s Home Office Project Manager.
Contract Lenght: Up to five (5) years
Key Responsibilities
- Serving as Amec Foster Wheeler’s senior staff member and liaison with both the client and the project team
- Leading project teams in providing technical advisory services for the power sector while managing project staff
- Reporting to Amec Foster Wheeler Home Office Project Manager on project progress, needs and issues
- Supporting Amec Foster Wheeler Home Office staff in developing monthly project invoices
Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of working experience in implementing energy projects, especially in electricity distribution, is desired
- Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a Master’s degree in engineering management, economics or other similar fields
- Extensive knowledge of international best practices in power system planning, economics, business models, institutional assessment, contract procedures, project follow-up and risk management
- Experience working and living in developing and / or post-conflict countries, with a preference for experience in the aforementioned countries
- Ability to work in a team environment with multiple reporting priorities
