Position Details
This is a part-time, 1500-hour maximum, on-site technical position in the Bureau of Utility Operations EXCEL/Training programs. The Safety/Technical Trainer will conduct formal and informal training in electrical, instrumentation, mechanics, and safety related to the water and wastewater industry.
Nature Of Work

  • Prepares and conducts formal and informal safety and technical training for Bureau staff
  • Monitors training effectiveness and identifies areas for improvement;
  • Conducts field training certification for OSHA/MOSH compliance;
  • Works cooperatively with subject matter experts and assists in the development of tests for in-house training programs
  • Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, principles, and practices of technical education.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other county departments, and the public. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain required statistics, records, and reports.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma;
  • OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain upon hire;
  • 5 years of on-the-job training experience in the electrical, mechanical, or building trades industry.
  • Ability to prepare and present training based on relevant regulations (OSHA, MOSH, etc.)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Possess a valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of experience conducting structured training in general mechanics, industrial electrical, or construction safety.
