Job Purpose

This position is responsible for teaching and supervision of postgraduate and undergraduate students as well as undertaking research that influences theory and practice in a given field.

Responsibilities

The Senior Lecturer responsibilities shall include:-

Undertaking teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels in your area of specialization as allocated by the Chair of the Department; Developing of learning materials for knowledge dissemination on a variety of platforms; Conducting research and producing publications or other research outputs; Participating and writing of research winning grant proposals to enhance university research funds; Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research; Contributing to the development, planning and implementation of quality curriculums; Participating in departmental and School seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building multi-disciplinary collaborations within and outside the department; Participating in the development , administration and managing of examinations in the University; Participating in the departmental, School and University wide committees; Providing guidance and counselling of students; Involving in community outreach activities; Assessing students on teaching and industrial attachment; Providing mentorship to both students and staff in the Department or School; Attending and participating in research conferences and seminars; and Any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Chairperson of Department.

Job Specification

Minimum requirements:-

An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University OR for Health Sciences a Master’s Degree with a subspeciality experience for at least seven years and evidence of advancement in Ph.D; At least three years teaching experience as a Lecturer or eight years in industry OR for Health Sciences four years teaching experience at the University level as a Lecturer or eight years in industry; Must have at least four publications in credible and refereed journals since last appointment as Lecturer; Should show evidence of continuing research, publications, effective teaching, participation in seminars and conferences; Supervision of postgraduate students’ i.e. supervised at least three postgraduate students to completion since last appointment OR for Health Sciences at least four post graduate students two of whom to completion and at least two in progress; Be registered with at least one professional body where applicable; and They should show evidence of participation in community service.
