The YMCA of Greater Cleveland is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively seeking highly engaged, flexible, and service-oriented individuals for seasonal Summer Camp Counselor positions.
In this position, you will be responsible for providing support in a variety of tasks and programs across camp. This role is a profound opportunity to directly impact the lives of the communities we serve by fostering genuine connections, practicing exceptional hospitality, and creating a safe, positive, and enriching environment where every interaction is meaningful. The Summer Camp Counselor role will help to create a smooth, welcoming camp atmosphere by stepping in whenever needed to support daily camp life by ensuring the camp community feels connected and supported.
Location: YMCA Camp sites in North Royalton, Rocky River, Knollwood Elementary (in Sheffield)
Work Schedule

• Looking for seasonal staff who are available to work 25-30 hours weekly from May through August.
  

Purpose And Impact

• Promote Safety & Well-Being:
  • Maintain safe, clean, and hazard free environments by monitoring environments, reinforcing boundaries, and following YMCA safety standards. Support healthy camper habits and respond attentively to potential concerns.
• Lead With Integrity & Community Spirit:
  • Model honesty, respect, responsibility, and professionalism in every interaction. Uphold camp expectations through dependable teamwork, strong communication, and consistent support for campers and staff throughout each day.
• Support Camp Operations:
  • Contribute to smooth camp wide functioning by assisting with educational and maintenance tasks, program setup or food service assistance, and other needs as they arise. Stay adaptable and ready to help wherever needed to keep camp running effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum Age: 18+ years.
• Certification & Skills:
  • First Aid and CPR Certification (will be able to obtain during summer camp staff training).
  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Once a conditional offer is made, candidates will be subject to criminal background check, drug screen, and will be asked to provide criminal history. Criminal history will be analyzed on a case by case basis as it related to the position.
