A construction and manufacturing firm based in JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN is seeking an Accountant with primary responsibility for managing complex job costing, long-term project timelines, and specialized revenue recognition requirements.

Location: South Sudan | Nature of Contract: 2-Year Fixed Term
Primary Responsibility
The Accountant will
o Ensure financial accuracy, project profitability, regulatory compliance, and effective risk mitigation across multi-faceted construction projects.
o Manage day-to-day financial operations, track project-specific costs (labour, materials, and overheads), and provide financial insights to support project profitability.
o Be responsible for cash flow management, budgeting, and cost control, while working closely with Project Managers and ensuring full compliance with South Sudan statutory and tax regulations.
Key responsibilities
a. Financial Transaction Management
o Process invoices, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll.
o Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date accounting records and books of accounts.
b. Project Cost Control
o Track and monitor costs related to labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors on a per-project basis.
o Identify and prevent cost overruns through timely reporting and analysis.
c. Budgeting & Forecasting
o Support Project Managers in preparing project budgets.
o Assist in forecasting project financial performance and identifying variances.
d. Financial Reporting
o Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, and Job Costing Reports.
o Ensure reports are aligned to construction industry requirements.
e. Compliance & Audit
o Ensure compliance with South Sudan accounting standards and applicable tax laws, including Withholding Tax (WHT), Business Profit Tax (BPT), Personal Income Tax (PIT), and Corporate Income Tax.
o Facilitate and coordinate internal and external audits by ensuring timely availability of accurate financial records, schedules, and statutory documentation, and by supporting audit queries and recommendations.
f. Cash Flow Management
o Monitor cash inflows and outflows.
o Optimize receivables collection and manage vendor payment cycles.
g. Vendor & Subcontractor Management
o Manage vendor and subcontractor contracts and billing processes.
o Maintain strong supplier relationships to secure favourable commercial terms.
Requirements
o Degree in a business-related field; CPA (K) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
o Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in finance and accounting within a construction company.
o Practical experience in construction accounting principles, including the Percentage of Completion method and understanding of construction project lifecycles.
o Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Tally, Microsoft Excel, and stock/inventory management systems.
o In-depth knowledge of South Sudan tax laws (VAT and TDS) and familiarity with Companies Act compliance requirements.
o Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including the Percentage of Completion method and construction project lifecycles.
