Maseno University founded in 1991, is the only university on the globe that lies along the Equator (00). It is one of the seven public universities in Kenya. The University is located in Maseno Township along Kisumu-Busia road, 25 km from Kisumu City and approximately 400 km west of Nairobi the capital city of Kenya. The University also shares its boundaries with Vihiga and Kisumu County.
JOB SUMMARY
Requirements for Appointment:Certificate in Animal Health Production or veterinary Technology from accredited and recognized institution;At least Two (2) years’ relevant work experience in a research or teaching laboratory;A minimum of KCSE Mean Grade of C-(Minus);Must be registered with the Kenya Veterinary Board;Must possess animal handling and restraining skills;Proficiency in computer applications;Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding ethical care and use of animals; andGood verbal and written communication skills.Method of ApplicationInterested applicants should visit Maseno University Website to view the detailed job requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES
Animal husbandry: Providing daily care for laboratory animals (mice, rats, rabbits, etc.);Health monitoring and bio-containment: observation of animals for signs of illness and maintaining general hygiene in the facility;Technical assistance: Assisting learner and researchers with animal restraint, vaccination, dissections, sample collection and administration of treatment; andAny other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
