The Opportunity
This internship offers a hands-on introduction to the world of professional services. You will work closely with Audit and Tax Seniors, providing essential support on various engagements. This is a foundational role with the potential for long-term career progression within the firm based on performance and qualification completion.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Support: Assist the audit team in carrying out substantive testing, verifying source documents, and preparing audit working papers.
Tax Compliance: Support the tax department in preparing draft tax computations, filing VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns via iTax.
Documentation: Organize and maintain neat, systematic client files and audit trails in line with firm standards.
Data Entry & Analysis: Assist in the capturing of financial data into accounting software and performing basic reconciliations (bank, ledger, etc.).
Client Interaction: Professional communication with client staff to gather necessary documentation and information for assignments.
Learning & Growth: Actively participate in firm training sessions and apply feedback from Seniors and Managers to improve work quality.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Economics, or a related business field from a recognized university.
Professional Certification: Must have completed at least CPA Part 2 (Section 3 & 4).
Technical Skills: Basic understanding of International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) and IFRS.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Odoo) is an added advantage.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical mind and a high level of integrity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A "can-do" attitude and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Kisumu.
