ABOUT THE COMPANY

Since its inception in 1952 by the Utretch Brothers of the Netherlands as a Trade School, Mawego Technical Training Institute has recorded tremendous growth in the development of Middle Level Training as an Institution. It has continually fulfilled its mandate in training young people to acquire skills and technical knowledge that are in line with the industrial growth of our country and the vision 2030.
In 1967, the institution was taken over by the Government and became a National Technical Secondary School. In 1986, it was upgraded to a Technical Training Institute in the greater South Nyanza comprising Migori, Homa Bay and Kisii Counties, offering technical and business related courses at the levels of Certificate and Diploma. The Institute has a unique symbolic relationship with the surrounding community, which has been very supportive.

JOB SUMMARY

Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide support to trainers and trainees in solving technical problems and practicalsMaintain workshop inventories by receiving, issuing tools and materials in the workshop and ensure sufficient materials in the workshopObserve and ensure health and safety procedures are practiced and enforced and accidents reported to the section headRequisition for consumables to ensure they are replenished in a timely manner and organize in a way that they are easily tracedPrepare maintenance schedule for all the workshop equipment for approval by section head and maintain requisite records on servicing schedule on various equipment and machinery to ensure the schedule is adhered to.Advise the section head on the budgeting requirement of the workshop to ensure that all the requirements of the workshop are budgeted forSegregate non-functional equipment and machinery to promote safety in the workshop.Provide procurement specifications for workshop equipment to be purchased to ensure purchase of the correct equipment/machineryReport breakdown of machinery and equipment to the head of the section to advise on replacement needsSupervise cleaning of the workshop to promote general cleanliness of the workshop and equipment and provide a conducive environment for trainings and practicalRequirements for AppointmentMust hold a Diploma in Automotive Engineering.Welding and Fabrication skills will be an added advantage.Previous experience of at least 4 years in a TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) institution will be an added advantage.Demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and resultsMinimum K.C.S.E C- (Minus)Diploma in relevant fieldComputer literacyValid License for a relevant professional bodyKnowledge of OSHA ActMethod of ApplicationAll Applications including CVs and copies of relevant certificates should be sent electronically to the undersigned:The Chief PrincipalThe Mawego National PolytechnicP.O.
