Job Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building key customer relationships, negotiating and closing business deals, and maintaining an extensive knowledge of current market conditions. This role requires a proactive and strategic individual capable of driving growth and maximizing profitability for the company.

Job Description/Requirements

Reports to: Director/CEO


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performance Commitment: The Employee agrees to perform all duties of their position with diligence, skill, and to the best of their ability. The Employee must adhere to all Employer policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, both written and oral, as communicated by the Employer.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: The Employee acknowledges that their assignment, duties, responsibilities, and reporting arrangements may be modified by the Employer at its discretion without terminating this agreement. This includes the willingness to work in different departments as needed.
  • Reporting: Provide detailed monthly sales reports and any other reports requested by management.
  • Team Training: Train the sales team on Company products, sales procedures, and customer care practices.
  • Sales Leadership: Direct and lead the sales team to meet sales targets and drive Company sales through effective marketing strategies.
  • Procurement Liaison: Collaborate with the Procurement team to ensure timely sourcing of goods.
  • Product Mastery and Documentation: Master Company products, fulfill product requests efficiently, and ensure accurate and proper documentation.
  • Market Awareness: Maintain sales volume, product mix, and pricing by staying updated on supply, demand, trends, and competitors. 
  • Target Achievement: Plan and achieve divisional and personal targets in line with Company policies and strategies. 
  • Cross-Functional Support: Assist in other functions as needed to support organizational growth. 
  • Custodian of Assets:  Responsible for assigned Company goods, cash, and assets; liable for any loss or damage due to negligence. 


Key Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification is an added advantage.

    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, preferably in the Industrial Electrical & Electronics industry.

    • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Kenyan market and regional trends, with a focus on business growth.

    • Sales & Marketing Skills: Proven track record in sales, negotiation, and deal closure.

    • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret market data, trends, and client needs to make strategic recommendations.

    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and proposal writing.

    • Problem-Solving: Creative thinker who can develop innovative solutions to challenges.

    • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.

    • Networking: Strong network within the business community and experience in leveraging contacts for business growth.

    • IT Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools.


Preferred Skills:

    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

    • Proven leadership skills with a high level of initiative.

    • Knowledge of digital marketing, e-commerce, or related fields.

    • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in Kenya.
