City Lead for Creative Chaos Event in Nairobi
Job summary
Lead the Nairobi chapter of Creative Chaos: The Exchange, a 6-city participatory festival reimagining value through community experimentation. As the most senior city lead, you will own end-to-end production, including budget management, logistics, and sponsor relations, to deliver a high-energy event for 100–200 local participants.

Key Responsibilities
Budget & Finance
- Manage event budget
- Track all expenses and revenue streams
- Ensure financial accountability and reporting
Team Leadership
- Lead and manage a team of 12-14 volunteers across 5 functional areas
- Hold weekly team standups and progress check-ins
- Motivate, problem-solve, and keep everyone accountable
Partnerships & Sponsorship
- Secure 3-5 local sponsors and in-kind partners
- Coordinate venue selection and partnership agreement
- Build relationships with media partners for coverage
Logistics & Operations
- Coordinate all event logistics: setup, materials, catering, transport
- Serve as primary point of contact with CrowdPen HQ
- Deliver weekly progress reports during the 8-week lead-up
Event Delivery
- Lead event-day execution with full strike team
- Troubleshoot issues in real-time
- Ensure smooth delivery from setup to teardown
Post-Event
- Submit post-event report within 5 days of event
- Compile financial reconciliation and team feedback
- Handoff content and learnings for future cities
Requirements
Must-Have

- Based in Nairobi with deep local networks in the creative/entrepreneurial ecosystem
- 2+ years experience in event production, community organizing, or project management
- Proven ability to manage budgets and financial accountability
- Experience leading volunteer teams or cross-functional groups
- Available 15-20 hours/week from June 1 through event delivery in October 2026
- Fluent in English
Nice-to-Have
- Previous experience with festivals, cultural events, or participatory formats
- Existing relationships with venues, sponsors, or media in Nairobi
- Background in creative industries, tech/innovation, or social enterprise
- Familiarity with startup/entrepreneurial communities in your city
