PU is proud of that all its programs have received the required accreditation by professional bodies. This is on top of the many industry partnerships that the University has initiated. Professional bodies accrediting our courses include the Nursing Council of Kenya, the Medical Practitioners and Dentists, the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, among many. Mentoring teams students The dean of students and the academic departments oversees a mentorship and career advisory service for students during the time of study. At the end of the course, students are assisted to develop "employer attracting" resumes and coached for interviews. Mentoring teams sometimes consisting of alumni provide industry/ market insight, employability skills. These teams can assist you with contacts of potential employers.
JOB SUMMARY
Job PurposeTo plan, coordinate, and implement the University's internal and external communication strategies in order to enhance institutional visibility, protect and promote the University's corporate image, support effective information flow, and strengthen engagement with stakeholders in line with the University's mission, vision and strategic objectives.Academic QualificationsApplicants must have an earned Bachelor's degree in any of the following areas, Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Journalism, Journalism and Mass Communication, MassCommunication, Communications and Public Relations, International Relations and Diplomacy, Communication Studies, Communication and Media or equivalent qualification from arecognized and accredited institution. Applicants should also have Proficiency in computer applicationsProfessional QualificationsApplicants should be registered members of the relevant professional body e.g. Public Relations Societyof Kenya (PRSK),Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), Media Council of Kenya (whereapplicable) and possess technical certification in eitherPublic RelationsCorporate CommunicationMedia RelationsDigital Communication / Social Media ManagementOr Relevant technical and professional certification from recognized and accredited institution
RESPONSIBILITIES
Main duties and responsibilities.Duties and responsibilities of the Officer will include but not be limited to:Implementing corporate communications policies, strategies and programmesImplementing media relations and internal communications programmesPreparing media supplements and documentaries, press/media releases and features.Coverage of University activities, both video and photographyManaging and updating social media platformsDeveloping a publicity framework for purposes of public awarenessPrepare and disseminate corporate publicity information materials like posters, banners,calendars, diaries, prospectus, monthly update newslettersMaintain a photo gallery for the UniversityCoordinating media/advocacy fora's;Developing and updating a database for media contacts;Providing communication linkage between the University and stakeholders;Participate in organizing and coordinating and coverage of University exhibitions and marketing activities both video and photographyEditing, proof reading and production of communication materials, publications, press, statements/releases and writing opinions.Provide the necessary editorial support including review of structure, clarity of language, grammar, formatting, presentation, and alignment of University policies Ensuring adherence to the corporate brand;Developing information education communication materials.Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
