About TamuPOS
TamuPOS is a US-based POS SaaS platform built for restaurants and cafés in Kenya. We're early-stage, moving fast, and building the tools that help food businesses run better — from order management to payments to reporting. This role is our first on-the-ground hire in Nairobi, and you'll be the face of TamuPOS in the Kenyan market. If you're looking for a role with a neat job title and a narrow lane, this isn't it. If you want to be in the room where everything happens, keep reading.
The Role
We're hiring a Customer Growth Associate (Technical) — a sharp, resourceful generalist who's ready to do whatever it takes to grow TamuPOS from the ground up. This is not a siloed position. You'll sell the product, set it up, support the people using it, and help us make it better. You'll talk to merchants in the morning, configure a menu at lunch, and flag a bug by evening.
Here's what that actually looks like:
Sales & Merchant Acquisition
- Identify, approach, and close new restaurant and café merchants across Nairobi.
- Run demos, handle objections, and get sign-ups. You own the pipeline.
- Build relationships that turn one-location clients into long-term partners.
Customer Onboarding
- Set up new clients on TamuPOS end-to-end: account configuration, menu setup, payment integration.
- Train cashiers and managers on how to use the system — in person, at their location.
- Handle hardware setup on-site, including tablets and stands.
Customer Support
- Be the first line of support for merchants via WhatsApp, phone, and email.
- Operating hours: Monday–Saturday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
- Respond to critical issues within 2 hours and non-critical issues within 24 hours.
- Develop a feel for recurring pain points and feed that back to the team.
Quality Assurance & Technical Support
- Test the product regularly — find bugs before our clients do.
- Document issues clearly and work with the development team to resolve them.
- Over time, get trained on tools like Claude Code to assist with light technical tasks and development support. You don't need to code today, but you should want to learn.
On-Site Operations
- Conduct site visits for onboarding, troubleshooting, and relationship management.
- Set up and maintain hardware at client locations across Nairobi.
Who You Are
- A generalist at heart. You don't wait to be told what to do. You see what needs doing and you do it.
- Detail-oriented with a QA mindset. You break things on purpose to make them better. Sloppy software bothers you.
- Comfortable selling. You can walk into a restaurant, earn trust, and close a deal. No ego about it.
- Technically curious. You may not write code today, but you're the kind of person who picks up tools fast. APIs, dashboards, and config screens don't intimidate you.
- Client-facing and composed. You communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and actually like talking to people.
- Based in Nairobi. This role requires in-person work across the city.
- Young, hungry, and low-ego. You care more about learning and impact than titles.
Why Join TamuPOS
- Ground-floor opportunity. You'll help shape the product, the culture, and the go-to-market strategy from day one as our first hire in Kenya.
- Learn everything. Sales, ops, QA, customer success, technical tools — you'll develop skills most people don't get exposure to until years into their career.
- Work with a US-based team. Gain experience collaborating across time zones with a fast-moving founding team.
- Real ownership. Your work will have a direct, visible impact on the business every single week.
How to Apply
Send us a short note telling us why this role fits you and what you'd bring to TamuPOS. Skip the generic cover letter — just be direct.
