Job Summary:
As a Debt Collector, you will be responsible for contacting individuals or businesses with overdue accounts and recovering outstanding payments. Your role involves negotiating payment plans, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that all collection practices comply with legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contact Debtors: Reach out to debtors via phone, email, and letters to remind them of overdue payments.
• Negotiate Payment Plans: Work with debtors to establish repayment schedules that are feasible and acceptable to both parties.
• Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of all communications and payment arrangements with debtors.
• Monitor Accounts: Track and follow up on payment progress and update the status of accounts regularly.
• Compliance: Ensure all collection activities comply with relevant laws and regulations, including maintaining debtor confidentiality.
• Report on Collection Activities: Provide regular reports to management on the status of collections and outstanding accounts.
• Customer Service: Handle debtor inquiries and complaints professionally, aiming to resolve issues and maintain a positive relationship.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is a plus.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a debt collector or in a similar role.
Skills:
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
