Overarching responsibilities “Main goals”


 

With the support and under the supervision of the Logistic and administration assistant, s/he is responsible for the daily management of the cars and any other task assigned by the supervisor. S/he collaborates with other departments for the daily movement plans and follow up of activities.


The incumbent commits to observe discretion on any information related to the organisation functioning.


The incumbent will conduct his or her duties in respect of the Charter of Terre des hommes (Tdh) and Tdh Child Protection Policy. Tdh intervenes without any affiliation for politics, religion or financial profit. The incumbent will direct his or her activities and engagements without preoccupation of political, racial or religious affiliation. Tdh expects that its staff and contractors’ professional conduct reflect proper behaviour in accordance with local culture and traditions. The incumbent assures the moral protection of the name of Tdh and defends in all circumstances the interests of the movement.


 


Specific Responsibilities/Context of “tasks”


 


More specifically he/she has the following responsibilities:


Main Responsibilities


·       Responsible for passengers and other road users’ safety.


·       Responsible for vehicle maintenance and security.


·       Always assure the presence in the car of: Logbook, tools and spare parts, complete first aid kit and one spare tyre in good condition.


·       Safe parking.


Detailed Responsibilities


•         Every morning verifies oil and water levels, battery status, and tires pressure.


•         Correctly fill in and update the Logbook.


•         Keep driving license and car papers valid and ready for inspection.


•         Inform immediately the supervisor and the local authorities of any accident.


•         Inform immediately the supervisor of any technical failure or need for maintenance of the vehicle.


•         Support loading and unloading the car.


•         Refuel the car whenever necessary or when the level gets below half the tank’s capacity.


•         Support the team with small tasks like purchases, mail delivery, etc.


Reporting


•         Provide the logbook on weekly/biweekly and monthly basis to supervisor.


Coordination


•         Ensure and facilitate the communication and information sharing within the team and the departments and contribute to the team responsibilities.


•         Work in close collaboration with other departments.


Security


•         Comply to Tdh and external security regulatory policies.


Child Protection Policy


·       Commit to respect the Child Protection Policy.


·       Commit to inform the Supervisor or Project Manager or Country Representative and to deal with any case of any allegations or possibility of transgression, even potential, of the Child Protection Policy.


Others


·       Undertake all other duties that may be determined by the supervisor and that are compatible with the job.

This function requires possession of fundamental personal, social and leadership skills (CPSLs), technical and methodological skills (CTMs) and Managerial and strategic skills (CMSs)

Required conditions


Training/Qualifications


Minimum Education of Secondary school level finalist with proven training in a competent driving school.


Experience


•    3 years minimum of previous driving experience and other administrative tasks.


•          Knowledge of basic mechanics is desirable



  • Knowledge of Dadaab/Garissa


Languages                                  


Ability read and write in both English and Kiswahili


 


IT know-how


•     Basic computer skill.
