JOB SUMMARY

For appointment to this grade, an officer musthave: -  a)      Minimum qualification of Kenya Certificateof Secondary Education Mean Grade C (minus)b)      At least ten (10) years drivingexperience in a public or private sector organizationc)      A valid license free from any currentendorsement(s) for classes of vehicle (s)the officer is required to drive;d)      Passed a suitability/Practicaloccupational trade test Grade II;e)      Demonstrated merit and ability indriving and maintenance of vehicles;f)       A refresher course for drivers lastingnot less than one-week (1) every three (3) years from a recognized institution.g)      Attended a first Aid Certificate coursenot less than one (1) week from a recognized institution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities at thislevel will involve: driving a motor vehicle as authorized: carrying out minormechanical repairs: security of vehicle on and off the road; safety ofpassengers and or goods therein; maintaining cleanliness of the assignedvehicles and carry out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electricaland brake systems, tyre pressure: carrying out minor repairs including oilingand greasing; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems andmaintenance of work tickets for vehicle assigned.
